Classic Rock Present AOR 5: Motley Crue from £7.99 £

Sunset Strip superstars Mötley Crüe grace the cover of issue No.5 of Classic Rock Presents AOR.

In an AOR world exclusive, we’ve got all-new interviews with all four Crüe members – Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, Mick Mars and Tommy Lee.

They consider the band’s longevity and their final legacy – when not indulging in internal squabbles, airing beefs with other rock bands and evading the press. Nice to see some things don’t ever change…

Plus we name the Crüe’s Top 10 Most Melodic Moments. And we tell the tale of Dr Feelgood, the 1989 breakthrough album that propelled the band into the big time.

We’ve also got a sensational 15-track free CD, titled AORmania, featuring all-new tracks from Houston, Fiona, Grand Illusion, Fate, Reckless Love, Mecca and more.

Elsewhere in the issue, we talk to Norwegian melodic rock goddess Issa about her sublime new album, The Storm.

Former Skid Row frontman Sebastian Bach comes clean about loving power ballads, starring on Broadway and the tensions caused by being the hottest guy in your band.

There’s a revealing chat with the legendary David Crosby. Having lost his lover to a car crash and his mind to an ever-more-wild cocktail of illicit substances, in 1970 the former Byrd retreated to the studio and distilled these miseries into his haunted, transcendent, Vatican-approved solo album, If Only I Could Remember My Name.

That’s not all. There are further features on Shy, Y&T, Lindsey Buckingham, Tokyo, Doogie White, Davy Vain, Le Roux, Starship… and a six-page review of Firefest, the UK AOR scene’s live event of the year, starring Jimi Jamison, W.E.T., Jeff Scott Soto, Steve Augeri, Strangeways, Newman, Coney Hatch, White Widdow, Mitch Malloy, Unruly Child…

All this, plus reviews of all the latest AOR albums and live reviews of Def Leppard, Heart, the Electric Boys, The Union, Bret Michaels and more.

Finally, we deliver our verdict on the controversial Rock Of Ages hair-metal musical – did we love it, or did we loathe it? Find out in issue No.5 of AOR!

GarageBand: The Ultimate Guide is packed with step-by-step tutorials on all GarageBand’s top features enabling you to learn how to record, edit, arrange and mix music on your Mac.

Includes GarageBand: the ultimate guide CD

431 pro Apple Loops from Time+Space and Loopmasters

All the audio files you need to accompany our step-by-step tutorials

From the Editor:

“One of the best things about owning a Mac is that it comes with several great pieces of software pre-installed, and one of the most impressive of these programs is GarageBand. Why? Because it performs the remarkable feat of turning your computer into a fully functioning music recording studio.

“You may know this already; chances are that you’ve clicked that little guitar icon in your Mac’s Dock and had a nose around the GarageBand interface at some point. Perhaps you’ve started to make a bit of music with it, or maybe even completed a song or two.

“Whatever your previous GarageBand experience, this magazine is for you. We’ll start off with the basics, revealing how to make ‘instant music’ with the software’s loop-based features, before explaining how to take things further and record your own parts. Once you’ve got these skills in your pocket, you’ll be able to follow our step-by-step guides to applying effects and giving your tracks that pro finish, and even learn how to make sounds of the sort that you’ll hear splashed all over today’s hit records.

“Things don’t stop there, either: we’ve sourced the answers to some of GarageBand users’ most frequently asked questions. Plus, for those chomping at the bit to do more, we’ll consider GarageBand’s big brother, Logic, and the excellent new iPad version of the software. This, then, is as comprehensive a guide to the world of GarageBand as you’re going to get. Let’s make some music.”

We talk to Richard Marx, Black ’N Blue, Hardcore Superstar, Romeo’s Daughter and Eden’s Curse.

sound like acoustic blues legends chords and tab included

Clear and simple tab

Great pieces to play

Sound like the real deal

Play better today!

Whether solo or in a band,
sound more authentic and confident right now!

This Acoustic Blues edition of Play Guitar Now, is brought to
you by the makers of Guitar Techniques magazine.

Acoustic blues is a fabulous form of music to play, evoking
as it does the lone minstrel, wandering from town to town, playing and singing
for his supper and passing on songs learned from friends, family or ‘borrowed’
from other artists.

Of course acoustic blues has moved on a lot since the days
of Robert Johnson, Charley Patton and Son House, who did indeed roam Mississippi plying their
trade. From Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton, to the wonderful Eric Bibb and Kelly
Joe Phelps,

we arrive at Joe Bonamassa, who takes acoustic blues to
sensational new levels. Add the ability to create lonesome, wistful tones using
the slide or ‘bottleneck’ technique of artists such as Elmore James or Ry Cooder, and the
good old flat-top box never seemed so versatile.

In this magazine and video package Stuart Ryan delves into
all these acoustic blues approaches, bringing
you one of the finest all-round tutorial packages you’re ever likely to find.

Everything that’s on the video is fully tabbed in the
magazine (with proper notation too) so you can watch Stuart’s fingers and double-check everything he’s doing.
Not only are there useful chords to learn, plus licks and studies in most
acoustic blues styles,
Stuart also plays six inspiring pieces that put everything you’ve
learned into practice.

If you know some of this stuff already, don’t worry; it
never hurts to recap and there will almost certainly be a lot more that’s new
to you. Whether playing solo, accompanying yourself or another singer, Play
Acoustic Blues opens the door to
a self-contained world of music that you will never want to leave.

PART 1: BLUES CHORDS:

We show you all the chords you’ll need to start playing this great
style; played as separate notes as well as being strummed.

PART 2: TECHNIQUES:

From alternating bass lines and banjo rolls to the ‘thumb and
strum’ technique, these exercises will get you swiftly up and running.

PART 3: FIVE LICKS

These cool licks display some of the different rhythmic feels
you’ll need to master in order to be a convincing acoustic blues guitarist.

PART 4: PLAY IT LIKE...

These exercises will get you quickly into the styles of Jimmy
Page, Lonnie Johnson, Ry Cooder, Blind Blake and Jimi Hendrix...

PART 5: SET PIECES…Now it’s time
to put your ideas into action. These six fantastic studies will have you
sounding confident and authentic in no time at all!

"As arguably the most amorphous and creatively subjective aspect of music production, mixing is also the most challenging stage of the process for many musicians. This is largely down to the fact that it’s a highly skilled art form requiring a lot of time and effort to become proficient at, of course, but also because there’s a lot of myth and mystique surrounding this particular area of audio engineering that can be deeply intimidating for the novice and even somewhat off-putting to more experienced hands.

Luckily for you, though, if you see fit to pick up this Ultimate Guide, you'll be putting yourself on the fast track to mixing mastery!Packed with no-nonsense tutorials and step-by-step guides compiled from the pages of Computer Music and Computer Music Specials, this endlessly educational tome is aimed at Mac and PC musicians of all ability levels, working in any genre and to any budget.

Within these pages, you’ll find guidance on everything from the very basics of mixing to advanced techniques and concepts that were once the exclusive and closely-guarded preserve of the professional engineer. " Ronan Macdonald Editor

Exclusively featuring their latest album ‘The World is
Yours’.

The 'Motorhead pack' presents the new album in exclusive format
and comes with a collectors edition 132 page deluxe magazine + A1 poster
& metal pin badge.

Motorhead, the legendary British Rock band formed in 1975
are this year celebrating their 35th anniversary and the 65th birthday of their
iconic founding member Ian ‘Lemmy’ Kilmister by releasing their 20th studio
album titled ‘The World is Yours’.

The supporting magazine is the official companion to
the album featuring exclusive interviews with the band and charts the history
of one of the world's most iconic rock bands whilst also providing
the definitive liner notes on the recording of their new masterpiece.

Foreword from Lemmy

"So, boys and girls, what do we have here? An entire magazine based upon Motörhead? I can honestly say, on behalf of myself and my colleagues Phil Campbell and Mikkey Dee, that I have never before been so honoured.

As you may recall, Motörhead were once described as “the worst band in the world” by the gentlemen of the press. So now that we are deemed worthy of a Motörhead themed magazine, perhaps somebody somewhere has been proven wrong?
