After dominating sprint finishes for years, Mark Cavendish’s reign over the Tour de France was challenged last year, when Marcel Kittel did the unthinkable and came round the Manx Missile to flat-out beat him. This issue, Cavendish accepts the threat of Kittel and indeed welcomes it, telling Procycling, “Now there’s a rider in Kittel who’s better than the others, and that makes my margin of being the best a bit smaller.”
