Cavendish’s reign over the Tour de France was challenged last year, when Marcel Kittel did the unthinkable and came round the Manx Missile to flat-out beat him. This issue, Cavendish accepts the threat of Kittel and indeed welcomes it, telling Procycling, “Now there’s a rider in Kittel who’s better than the others, and that makes my margin of being the best a bit smaller.”
