In PC Format June Issue 292

We have a bit of a graphics-gasm this month. That shouldn’t really come as much of a surprise given how much of what we do with our PCs is governed by their graphical power. Whether we’re manipulating videos or images, playing games, consuming content or just browsing the web, the GPU demands we put on our machines is growing year-on-year.

This month we’ve taken a snapshot of the best graphics cards, at a variety of prices, to show what’s available right now. But we also look into the future of GPU hardware at Nvidia’s GPU Technology Conference and sit down with some of the brains working towards the next iteration of DirectX.
There’s also the small matter of the FASTEST GRAPHICS CARD ON THE PLANET… well, for now anyways. The Radeon R9 295X2 dual-GPU behemoth is something really rather special, and this issue we see exactly how it stacks up in liquid-chilled form.

But it’s not all about graphics, we’ve got some of the finest new kit available including an in-depth examination of the latest SSDs running in RAID 0 arrays, looking to speeds of 1GB/s and beyond. There’s a host of laptops, keyboards, mice and headsets, and a desktop that has got us all riled up too.

We’ve got a packed tutorial section this month, covering how to get clean, crisp and clear audio recordings, and how to fine-tune your videos – all for free. If you’re into your retro gaming, and even if you’re not, you should check out Beneath a Steel Sky – we’ll guide you through free emulation software.
As usual, it’s a great issue.
