50 Years of the E-Type Jaguar
Few cars have made the instant impression that the Jaguar E-type did when it was launched in 1961.
Here was a new model that was achingly beautiful, incredibly fast, and a fraction of the price of its rivals. It became a household name, a car that’s still instantly recognised wherever it goes, and which remains as desirable now as it’s ever been – perhaps more so.
50 Years of the E-type Jaguar celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Read about the engineering background of the E-type and what’s lurking beneath that familiar shape. There’s some great restoration stories from enthusiasts who’ve worked on their E-types at home right through to specialist rebuilds of historically important examples. There's an interview with Norman Dewis, the man in charge of developing Jaguar’s road cars at the time, who at the age of 90, is an effervescent ambassador for the company and you can find out how the Series 1, 2 and 3 stack up against each other on the road.
